Italian automaker Piaggio has showcased its Vespa Elettrica e-scooter concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. First revealed at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy, the Vespa Elettrica has now made its debut in India.
This is the first time that an electric two-wheeler from Piaggio has been revealed in the country.
The Vespa Elettrica gets its power from an electric motor producing 2.6bhp and a peak power of 5.2bhp. a 4.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery with 1,000 charging cycles powers the electric motor.
Piaggio claims that this scooter’s performance is equal to a 50cc scooter, especially with the initial acceleration.
The Vespa Elettrica will be available in two variants – standard that delivers a riding range of 100 km and the X variant offering a range of over 200km.
There are two riding modes available – Eco and Power. The top speed on the Eco mode is limited to 30km/h. The Power mode provides full acceleration. The Vespa Elettrica will be manufactured in Italy and will hit sales in the European markets in 2018.
