Mercedes-Benz this time again brings to you one of the best luxury midsize sedans. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has a lot to offer, from a luxurious cabin to a turbo four-cylinder engine. And above all it provides you with cutting-edge safety technology.
Although it carries a compact look, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is actually bigger than the smaller C-Class sedan. It is also more eye-pleasing and comfortable from the inside. Various new high-tech systems offer an added advantage than any of the previous models to avoid accidents.
The E-Class is basically a midsize luxury sedan which has four doors and provides seating space to five people. It is visually similar to the previous model, but the similarities end there itself. Its sophisticated optional air suspension makes your ride very comfortable. And with reduced weight and brilliant aerodynamics it promises an improved efficiency.
It carries a lot of exclusive safety features like the seats are able to push occupants inboard in case of a side-impact collision. It also provides an optional driver aid that brings it closer to autonomous operation and a wide flat-screen dashboard display which can be operated from the steering wheel.
Exterior and Engine:
Mercedes will offer its E300 sedan model this year which is powered by a turbo charged four-cylinder engine with 272 pound-feet of torque and 241 horsepower. It also has a nine-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive and an optional 4Matic all-wheel drive. Some other features which are supposed to be added later include a six-cylinder 333 horsepower twin-turbo V6 and a plug-in hybrid. There is the possibility of a diesel-powered model as well. Like it has been the case with previous models, Luxury and Sport versions will follow.
The way it drives:
The elimination of noise and vibration from the E-Class cabin is evident when you compare it with the previous E-Class which was loud and uncomfortable. This version of E-Class model is special than the previous ones as it is way more comfortable. The optional drive pilot of the new E-Class is worth looking at. It offers radar governed cruise control, which activates by pulling stalk towards you for two seconds.
The car keeps in its lane with the lightest touch of the steering or even none for some time. Instrument panel warning is installed to warn you before the car moves off the line. Although during test drive the self-steering system failed and so, you cannot totally rely on car to steer itself.
The all new Mercedes-Benz has very comfortable seats and greatly adjustable driving position. Most of the minor systems can be operated by the touch pads on the steering wheel spokes that operates almost the entire system i.e. from air conditioning to navigation and the head-up display. Initially it is very intimidating, but gradually it becomes easy to use. A rotary knob helps you grab something more substantial.
The use of leather, wood and metal finishes creates an eye-catching ambience whose sixty-four shade color palette allows many tastes to be indulged. It also offers more cabin space, an additional 2.6 inches between the front and rear wheels. Though the rear legroom is a bit congested for taller passengers, the seats themselves are exceptionally comfortable.
It comes up with unique features like ‘short interference signal’, which is capable of detecting and escaping an imminent collision. However, if this system fails the car can autonomously apply emergency breaks. ‘Steering assist system’ enables a driver in making a more controlled avoidance scheme. PreSafe impulse side prevents you from imminent side impact.
Smartphone operated Remote Parking Pilot helps you automatically park the car in a tight space even from outside. Active Lane Change assists you change the lanes automatically. Drowsy deriver and crosswind alerts are also available.
Its closest competitors are Audi A6, Cadillac CT6, and Jaguar XF. Happy Driving !!!
