Renault India has announced that its all-new small car will make its world debut in India on May 20. The compact hatch has been codenamed ‘XBA’ and if reports ae to be beleived it will be officially named as ‘Renault Kayou’.
The hatchback will compete with vehicles like the Maruti Alto and the Hyundai Eon.
This is the first time when Renault is unveiling a vehicle globally outside Europe.
Mr Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Renault Group, will be unveiling the new hatchback.
The car will be built at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Oragadam, Chennai. The hatch will be powered by a 0.8-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which has been developed recently. It will be mated to manual and even automated manual transmissions (AMT), say reports.
Diesel option will not be available. The hatchback will come with a sub-4 lakh price.
The car will compete with Hyundai Eon, Maruti Alto, Chevrolet Spark, Datsun redi-Go.
