United Arab Emirates is all set to host the first ever solar car competition, the Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge, which will be organized in Dubai. The competition is schedule to take place in January next year.
This announcement was made recently at the Abu Dhabi Ascent conference (ADSC) on climate change. Masdar, Dubai’s renewable energy company, will be hosting the event, which will be the first green-car competition ever organized in UAE.
Futuristic vehicles designed and driven by students will be the entrant in the competition.
Dr Nabih Bedewi, the ADSC event director, says the eco cars are not being made for commercial but for educational and technological purposes.
The deadline for teams registration is August 1, according to The Mangalore Times. The high-tech solar cars will be examined on January 13-14, while a qualifying round will take place on January 15.
