Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in UAE on a two-day visit, also toured Masdar, Abu Dhabi, where he enjoyed a demo ride in a Self-Driving Car.
He visited Masdar, a zero-carbon smart city, before addressing a gathering of 50,000 Indian community members in Dubai.
The self-driving car operates under Masdar city’s Private Rapid Transit or PRT. The car gets its power from lithium batteries that are powered by solar energy. A virtual software guides its journey.
When Modi took the ride, a crowd of Indians gathered to watch him and the PM waved at them. Masdar is the first zero-carbon, car-free city.
“Science is life,” PM Modi wrote in a digital visitor’s book at Masdar City.
