The McLaren P1 hybrid hypercar made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013 and now a track-focused GTR variant is going to be unveiled soon.
The extreme version of the McLaren P1 has been unveiled via a teaser in form of a sketch. The McLaren P1 GTR Design Concept will be shown to the journalists at the McLaren Brand Center on August 15 and later it will be unveiled for the public at Pebble Beach.
The official teaser shows a big rear wing and two exhaust pipes, the aggressive aerodynamic diffuser, wide wheel arches and side skirts and rims with bigger diameter.
According to the British manufacturer, “The GTR was conceived in response to requests from buyers of the road legal McLaren P1 for a track focused edition of their car.”
The GTR will be sold to only this group.
The GTR will come backed with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 and electric motor, which will churn out 1,000 ponies. The GTR will hit production in June 2015. The 375th and final example of the road-going car will be built the same year.
